Set once for error free measurement to a quarter of a degree accuracy
Measuring the pitches of a complete eight can now be done in around 3 minutes, compared with the 10 minutes (approximately) it takes using a standard pitch gauge. This is possible because, having zeroed the gauge once, the curved vial allows each pitch angle to be read directly with no further adjustments needing to be made. The gauge also allows footstretcher angles to be measured in the same way using the 45° angle on the end of the gauge. In addition, by using the optional Extension and Blade Strap, the pitch on the blades themselves can be measured by one person.
The one-set pitch gauge is supplied in a tough polypropylene case that should be used for storage. Full user instructions are printed on the case.
Note:
Because the unit is fitted with a high accuracy glass vial direct impacts should be avoided. Also the unit must not be subjected to temperatures over 65° C/150° F (in exceptional circumstances these temperatures could be reached inside a vehicle on a hot sunny day).

How accurate is the one-set pitch gauge?
The gauge can allow you to easily achieve an accuracy of 0.25°.
Can the gauge be used to set lateral pitch?
Yes, providing the boat is well supported the gauge can be used to check the lateral pitches on the boat without repeated adjustment of the instrument.
What range of oarlock/swivel and blade pitches can the gauge accommodate?
From 0 to 7°.
What footstretcher angle range can the gauge accommodate?
From 38 to 45°.
Does the boat have to be horizontal to use the gauge?
No, but it does need to be within five degrees of horizontal (bow to stern) and in practice this only rules out using the gauge when the boat is at an extreme angle.
Does the extension suit all blades?
The extension has a straight edge 255mm long and this allows most blade types to have their pitch angles measured directly.
